I first attended pregnancy yoga when I was about 34 weeks. I was nervous at first because I hadn’t ever tried yoga before! But Tessa is so lovely I immediately felt relaxed and comfortable and absolutely loved my first session! I found classes so beneficial not only did it help me physically but it mentally relaxed me and being able to talk with other mums to be was really nice especially with it being my first pregnancy and having absolutely no idea what to expect! As I was still working it was nice to just have some me time for me and my baby for that 1 hour. Towards the end I suffered with hip pain and my ribs were constantly in pain, but after pregnancy yoga it helped ease the discomfort a lot.
Lucky me went into labour on my due date! My waters went at 8am got to hospital at 10.30 and started to progress quickly. I got in the pool at 12pm and by 14.10pm I had given birth to my daughter. I massively believe that yoga helped me with my breathing and being so relaxed throughout the whole experience and getting baby into a good position ready for birth. This made the whole experience enjoyable ( and the help of my amazing midwife ). I felt so in control and never thought once I couldn’t do it. When they weighed her she was 9lb 2oz ( no wonder my ribs were painful ) I was in complete shock I had been able to push her out but thanks to Tessa’s yoga I did!
When the time comes for number 2 I will without a doubt go back for pregnancy yoga. After 6 weeks we returned to Mum and baby yoga which is just as important as being a new mum is daunting, but seeing everyone again with their new babies is lovely! Thank you Tessa!
