I attended Tessa’s yoga classes in the studio from 12 weeks pregnant up until the first lockdown, it really helped me to have the time out each week just for me, to connect with my baby and my body along with meeting new mums to chat about everything baby! When the first lockdown hit I was devastated that the classes couldn’t go ahead but Tessa kindly did free ones online, these really helped throughout the crazy time and gave me something to look forward to each week.
My labour ended up with an emergency c section after nearly 48 hours of active labour due to failing to progress (dilate) however throughout my time in labour the breathing techniques taught in yoga class really helped me to stay focused and calm, thinking about the golden thread that would bring me closer to our baby arriving. My partner and I had done hypnobirthing which at the time made me really excited to go through labour to introduce our little girl into the world. I do believe this and yoga really helped me to stay calm and as relaxed as possible even if my labour wasn’t so ‘smooth’.
After birth once I had recovered from my c- section, I attended mummy and baby yoga with Tessa, having the opportunity for Violet to join in with me with something she previously had done but in my belly amazed me, she loved it and so did I! The social aspect of meeting other mums really helped me with being a new mum, I felt really involved and content and at no point when breastfeeding in class did I feel uncomfortable.
Yoga has really helped both pre and post-birth physically and mentally and I am still joining in on the online classes now nearly a year on, I really couldn’t recommend Tessa enough 💜
